These classes are offered to preschool dancers only. Students are introduced to tap, jazz, ballet, exercise and creative movement. Our curriculum is structured to develop coordination, confidence, rhythm skills and balance through the use of props, age appropriate music, and their own imaginations.
Energetic and expressive, jazz dance focuses on rhythmic movements and various body isolations, while increasing flexibility and muscle tone. Choreography is set to upbeat music that you see in musicals, films and videos of today. These classes are offered to students who are at least 7 years old.
In tap the emphasis is on footwork and expression of rhythm through sound. Students practice control, coordination, and agility. They will learn how to count music correctly and focus on the recall of intricate steps.
The foundation of all dance forms, ballet ensures proper placement of the body and helps to prevent dance injuries. Dedication to the study of ballet over an extended period of time will increase fluidity, grace, strength, and flexibility. This class is required for all students who want to be part of team classes or private lessons. Classes will perform in the annual show.
These classes are a combination of expressive movements and gestures from jazz and ballet, coordinated with basic modern dance concepts. Interpretations of various pieces of music bring emotion and choreography together to form an expressive story using the body. Technique is highly emphasized. Course Prerequisite - Student must be enrolled in ballet class(es).
A style of dance that combines classical technique with the precision of acrobatic elements. Acro improves a dancer’s strength & flexibility.
A high energy class that infuses the latest styles of street and video dancing. Class will encourage students to step outside of the box and bring their own individual style and personality to the movements. This is a recreational class. Course Prerequisite - Student must be enrolled in Jazz class(es).
This is a designed class to assist dancers and help improve their technical skills for leaps and turns.(Only offered to ages 9 & up.)
A form of dance as a performing art, variously developed in the 20th century by Isadora Duncan, Ruth St. Denis, Martha Graham, etc., and characterized by bodily movements and rhythms less formalized than in classical ballet and less firmly bound to predetermined musical form
