About Us
Our Story
In 1970, siblings Kippy and Tommy Ralabate, both accomplished ballroom champions, opened Kiptom Dance Center in Western New York, sharing their passion for teaching to the community. Even after Tom began teaching college-level dance at the University at Buffalo, he continued returning to Kiptom to teach, while Kippy served as head director for decades, building a lasting legacy whose influence can be felt across Western New York. Eventually, Kippy passed the leadership to former student Dawn Tarbox-Szerbiak, a University at Buffalo graduate. For over 20 years, Dawn has guided the studio to new heights, introducing competitive dance, earning local media recognition, and inspiring dancers to reach their fullest potential through her creativity, dedication, and leadership.
